We're many months into mourning the loss of Murphy someone that had a wonder season amongst many filled with 10 goals or so. I don't think his loss is the bigger issue here. The club as a whole seems bereft of any style or identity and top to bottom the team is due a refresh.
I see people saying we should write this season off. To be fair under current investment and squad strength what will make next season any better? It needs major changes that Evans is t prepared to financially commit to, changes that Ipswich don't have the resources to commit to as some of our peers have in the inflated transfer market.
I hate to say that the reality check may be that this year of rebuilding or however you want to brand it may need to be something closer to a three year overhaul that may end up being overseen by various different managers until it clicks. Genuinely think Murphy being sold was the tip of a much larger iceberg that us fans are discovering the horror of.
