I think so. Had been told he was among those told he could go but subsequently told he's on the short list of those Cook wants to keep. Further to that, I'm not sure he'd be that sellable after his injury struggles over the last couple of years. The clubs that might want him wouldn't be able to afford his wages.

Any news on Bish or Woolf for that shortlist please?

This is it, isn't it?

Even those that can go, only will if someone who can afford them wants them.

The important thing is that enough get moved on for Cook to be able to change the culture and stamp his authority on things and that those who stay are able to step up.

Bishop really hasn't done it though, he started well last season but that's all he's really ever done. After that he wasn't great at all last season.

Just because he's from the academy it doesn't mean he should get a free ride.

I think we should keep Wolfie.

Phil, I may well be sounding like a true pessimist but everything now seems quite short term.

Which 4 have been better than him or have more talent?

We have been utterly atrocious for 3 years but we always looked better when Bishop played

Why do 4 people have to be better than him?

My post wasn't in context of any quantity of players staying (which isn't even what this thread is about), it was simply that Bishop really hasn't done it.

Did we always look better when he played? I don't think that's true, especially after the good start to last season. I think this is a bit blue tinted, we wanted him to be good but he's 25 in a month, not some kid with potential.

We can of course disagree on this.

what is this short term thing that is coming out

Everyone wants to get out of league 1, that is target no.1

We have signed 2 players on 3 year contracts at prime age. We keep doing this and it is hopefully good enough for us to go up..... in the meantime, those at the club can sort the academy out - cat 1 etc etc. And rebuild the academy so we aren't bringing through 10 powder puff midfielders each year and can see a steady stream of academy products that can do the business, not just run around with the ball abit.

I think that's right. He's told them all they can go because few are viewed as indispensible and he wants to create space to bring in his own players. If more than the four or five BJ was talking about are here then as long as he's got his own players in he'll not be too unhappy. I think it's going to be impossible to offload everyone in one summer.

Its interesting you rate Bishop but hated Edwards, despite both being inconsistant but Edwards actually being better. Bish is mid 20's, he's no longer an academy product.

Shame that the Max Banter Boy is staying, but also telling no one would be likely to take him off our hands.

20+ goals from him next season on the way to promotion and all the haters will be loving him especially a certain someone.

certainly won't

Bish has scored 6 goals in 7 years, had a raft of injuries at the beginning that limited his games, and since his return has never looked anything like the player he potentially could have been. Great guy, had lots of promise, but nowhere near good enough.

He’s got a specialist plan in place over the summer, strength, conditioning and dieting to try and get him in best possible - up to Norwood to put the work in over the summer now.

I still think if you can get him in really good physical condition he will be a really good centre forward at League 1 level.

If we can get 85% of the season out of Norwood, he will bang in 30 goals easily at this level with the likes of Burns supplying him with the opportunities.

While I think Bish is a better player, Cook wanted to keep Edwards and wants Bish to move on. Will be interesting to see where Bishop ends up and whether it will be at a bigger club with better prospects than Edwards at Wigan. Cambridge are the keenest on Bishop from what I've heard, although wages make it a very difficult deal for them to do.

This is very true.
If Bish didn't come through the academy people would not want him to remain.
They would view him like we did Emyr.

Poll: Apologies I'm bored. How many signings will we have by Plymouth at home.
