Come on then. What are we saying. Does McKenna need to shake it up for fresh legs?!

I'm going to assume Clarke can't play. Didn't leave his seat after sitting down (not saying he's still there) and I think a proper injury unfortunately.

Hladky (just)
Tuanzebe Woolf Burgess Davis
Morsy Luongo
Hutchinson Chaplin Broadhead
Al-Hamidi

Walton
Edmundson
Humphreys
Harness
Jackson
Moore
Travis
Burns
Sarmiento

Wouldn't be shocked to See Harness starts though. And Travis possibly right back. Burns was brilliant the other night but he basically did another 90.

As you noted, Burns was our standout by a mile and has to start. If fit, Moore starts. That leaves Hutch. If he is to start, then it's Chaplin, or perhaps Broadhead on the bench - our top goalscorers with 10 and 11. Tough call that one. Despite a woeful 15 minutes on Tuesday, if Clarke is unfit, Tuanzebe plays RB. Can't see Travis there.

If Harness starts I'll be amazed, unless we want a player to run around energetically and close people down.

Other than that I think your team is the way forward.

Has Moore picked up a knock? I know he was holding his knee on Tuesday but seemed to run it off.

Unless he's injured, I think we'll see Moore start every game for the rest of the season. The desire for al-Hamadi is more heart over head at the moment (I love him as well, and really want him to start & score goals), but Moore is just more consistent and has settled quickly into the team dynamic.

RB might prove an issue. Clarke has been good when fully fit - much less so after a run of games. Tuanzabe also looked a bit lost when he came on on Tuesday.

I think we could see a return to Burns - Chaplin - Broadhead. Although would love to see Hutchinson start, only seems likely if Burns is cream crackered after Tuesday.

Hutchinson might start, he should be fresh, but I’ll probably go with the above. Assumes Clarke is fit, otherwise we might see Travis or Tuanzebe zebe there.

Saw this after I replied. Agree entirely.

If Moore is fit he has to start, has really hit the ground running and he’s vital right now.

That’s exactly what we could have done with on Tuesday in the second half tbh.

That's how we kind of shape up anyway, but it would be Clarke for Edmundson.

Don't think it would be too much of a shock. He scored twice against them from the bench earlier in the season and before he came on we really struggled to break them down.

Not sure Broadhead would drop out though given he didn't start midweek. And can't imagine Chaplin not starting again either.

I’m guessing Clarke is injured so I’m going with a back three with Burns and Davis as wingbacks.

I suspect Chaplin will start but I do wonder if Clarke isn't fit and Tuanzebe or Travis fill in at RB, whether McKenna will opt for Hutchinson who looks after the ball well when he drifts over to the right hand side in the build up, allowing Burns to stay high on the shoulder.

I think McKenna seemed to suggest it, I think Travis has played as much at full back for Blackburn recently as he has in midfield.
Think I'd do:
________Hladky
Tuanzebe Woolf Burgess Davis
_____Morsy Luongo
Burns __Hutchison __Broadhead
________Moore

If Clarke is out id be doing Travis at RB. Played a fair few games there for Blackburn I think ? And i noticed on Tuesday he did tend to go for a few runs down the right hand side with the ball. Tuanzebe looked so off it and Birmingham have dynamic wide players idk if I would trust him out there.

At least you’re consistent with the back 3 , but we never start with that formation.

Al-Hamadi just hasn't had the chance to lead the line. He has looked good when he came on. Hindsight is easy, but perhaps he should have replaced Moore when he had the knock.
The only reasons to start Al-Hamadi over Moore is to give Moore a rest or if McKenna feels like the specific match suits his attributes.

At the time I thought Broadhead was an odd substitution for Sarmiento. Not exactly a like for like substitution, but Harness seems much better suited to a battle. Perhaps KM has such faith in the way that we play, that he believes we can just do it better rather than try to compete physically, which is what Rotherham excel at.

Hladky
Clarke - Woolfenden - Burgess - Davis
Morsy - Luongo
Burns - Chaplin - Broadhead
Moore

Subs: Walton, Tuanzebe, Humphreys, Travis, Hutchinson, Harness, Sarmiento, Jackson, Al-Hamadi

Tuanzebe for Clarke if latter injured, with Edmundson on the bench.
Al-Hamadi for Moore if latter carrying a knock, with Buabo on the bench.

I came very close to replacing Hladky with Walton.

Kieran McKenna has achieved 208 points in his first 102 games as a manager. Averaging over 2 PPG.

Why would he change to a back 3 now?

It's not impossible, we've played it under him before.

It's not like we don't evolve our style from time to time and adapt.

Completely agree. If fitness and the knock is no issue Moore will start. But relative to games played in the season Moore has put a lot in over a short period. Given the way the game ended (+his knock) just wonder if Al Hamadi may start.

Clarke is back as a possibility too. Dead leg is great news to be honest given it could have e been Achilles or something.
