Keeper Lewis Price has accepted full responsibility for Birmingham's first goal in Town's 2-2 draw at St Andrew's. Meanwhile, Richard Naylor says he is determined to regain his regular place in the Town starting line-up.

Price says he should have kept hold of David Dunn's second half shot - which was followed up by DJ Campbell - despite a bad bounce: "The ball kicked off the turf a bit and got hooked under my shoulder, but I am not making an excuse as I should have dealt with the situation.

"The team did brilliantly and we should have won. We played Birmingham off the park.

"And to play arguably three of the best teams in the Championship inside eight days and be disappointed to collect seven points is a mark of how high our expectations are."

Naylor returned to the starting line-up at Birmingham with Alex Brice missing Saturday's game as part of the agreement which saw him leave the Midlands for Suffolk in the summer.

The testimonial man is expected to play against Sunderland on Saturday with Bruce again missing, this time due to suspension.

Naylor is keen to compete with Bruce and skipper Jason De Vos for a central defensive role: "My aim is to give the manager a selection headache.

"Of course I would like to stay in the side, and with Alex suspended on Saturday I am looking forward to hopefully facing Sunderland, a team who will give us another stiff test.

"We controlled the match on Saturday and it was disappointing not to collect three points.

"But we must take that on the chin and centre on the many positives that we can take out of the game."
