Town striker Alan Lee has revealed that having a right leg an inch longer than his left has probably been at the root of many of his injury problems. Lee is currently away with the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of Saturday's European Championship qualifying tie against Cyprus in Nicosia.

Lee has addressed problem by wearing special insoles — orthotics — in his boots and now hopes that will reduce the number of injuries he suffers: "Most people would have a centimetre in difference between the length of their legs but mine is longer.

"Perhaps that factor had a bearing on the injuries over the years, but after sorting it out and getting an operation in the summer, I have felt as fit and as good as ever.

"All I want to do now is try and score as many goals as possible in training and try to put that image in [Republic of Ireland manager Steve Staunton's] head because I hope to play some part on Saturday."

Town central defender Richard Naylor resolved a similar leg length problem with orthotics after knee injuries threatened to end his career during Town's time in the Premiership.
