Former Town skipper and coach Tony Mowbray has denied reports claiming that he is close to being named the new manager of West Brom. The Baggies are the Blues' next opponents at Portman Road a week on Saturday.

Mowbray appears to be becoming increasingly fed up with newspaper reports claiming he has twice been interviewed by the Midlands club: "If I've had a second interview I'd like to know when the first one was. I've had no contact with West Brom and I am not anticipating any.

"I do not know who is doing the talking but I know from having spoken to [Hibs chairman] Rod [Petrie] that there has been no contact.

"That's why this speculation is irritating for me. I do not know anything, it's been rumbling on for a few days now and it will only go away when West Brom sort things out."

Former Town boss Joe Royle has also been linked with the position recently vacated by Bryan Robson.
