Town have announced a four-year deal which will see the club's home and away kits, training gear and benchwear supplied by Mitre. The new deal will run until May 2011.

The arrangement with Mitre will start at the beginning of the 2007/08 season with supporters will again given the chance to choose the new kit from three proposed designs. Voting will start on November 11th. Town will continue to wear the current Punch away kit for another season with Mitre developing a new strip for the 2008/09 season.

Town's own Punch brand, which has been responsible for the club's kits since 1996, won't entirely disappear and will be used for selected leisurewear.

Mitre are returning to making football kits after seven years out of the market. Previously they supplied the Cameroon international side, Burnley and Hibernian.

Town's sales and marketing director Andrew Goulborn commented: “I would like to record the club's appreciation of the commitment and efforts of ASD, the Ipswich-based company who have worked with Ipswich Town over the last five years to design and manage the manufacturing of our Punch-branded kit. Whilst we're sorry to be ending our excellent partnership with them, we're excited about entering a new era with Mitre.

“Mitre is renowned for the quality of its products and their experience in the design and manufacture of sports products is second to none. They've got a great team and we are very much looking forward to working with them over the next few years. I think that Ipswich Town fans will be impressed when they see the design and quality of the products that we plan to produce with Mitre”.

Mitre's brand director Gary Hibbert added: “We are delighted to be re-entering the pro kit market, and particularly with a club of the stature and heritage of Ipswich Town. Like us they were founded more than 100 years ago and have a history that includes an FA Cup win, a UEFA Cup victory and a top five Premiership finish, as well having been the proving ground for two England managers.

“We couldn't ask for a better partner. We are totally committed to providing Ipswich Town and their supporters with the very best designs and the highest quality products.”
