Town boss Jim Magilton says he is very close to making a new loan signing. The defender's move could be confirmed today, although it's not likely he would face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Magilton told the club site: "We are very close now to confirming a loan for a defender.

"I'm hoping to finalise all the details today and the player could be at the club for the weekend.

"It's unlikely that he will feature against Sheffield Wednesday though, because he would not have played alongside any of the players here, but I'm not totally ruling it out."

The new player is likely to be a right-back who can also play at the centre of the defence.

Town are also expected to complete the signing of Tommy Miller in the next few days. The former Blues is likely to join on loan with a view to a permanent signing in January. Football League clubs are entitled to continue to make emergency loan signings up to Friday, November 24th.
