Club Respond to Complaint
Club Respond to Complaint

Russell Turner, the fan refused entry to the North Stand lower by stewards at the Burnley game earlier in the season, has sent TWTD the club's response to his complaint. Mr Turner arrived late for the match and was told he had to pay the higher upper tier ticket price.

After http://ipswichtown.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=911&p=2&stid=8431289>the incident in early December Russell wrote to the club and received this from chief executive Derek Bowden.

Dear Mr Turner,

Many thanks for your letter dated 4th December. I have to say that I agree with you. It does seem strange that we would not be able to sell you a ticket for part of the stadium where there are numerous empty seats just because you miss kick off.

Having investigated it further the reason is simply that a wide range of ticket pricing is available in the upper North Stand and the lower is adult only. Therefore, for flexibility reasons, we only offer tickets in the upper. Having said this, it still doesn't really make sense and therefore in future we will be offering tickets for the lower stand if available.

I realise this does not help you with regard to the Burnley game but as compensation for your disappointment I would like to offer you a free ticket for a game of your choice during the rest of the season.

I am sorry for the frustration that has been caused, but at the very least your complaint will mean others don't have to share it.

Derek Bowden

Coincidentally, Russell's friend Ollie was also involved in an unfortunate incident on the same day, a steward accusing him bringing a beer into the ground. The drink, which had been placed by his seat, was nothing to do with him and eventually the charge was dropped as there was no evidence that it was his.
