Rhodes Nets Twice in Draw
Rhodes Nets Twice in Draw

Jordan Rhodes scored twice as Town's reserves drew 2-2 with Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road this afternoon.

The Blues included central defender Gerard Nash, now playing with Leiston and working as a Town academy coach, in a young side. Nash hung up his boots early in the season following lengthy knee problems.

Rhodes put Town ahead in the 39th minute after good work from Kieran Leabon. The 17-year-old netted his second of the afternoon with 20 minutes remaining.

The Blues played well throughout against a similarly youthful Orient team and only a couple of defensive lapses prevented a three-point haul.

Goalscorer Rhodes, Kurt Robinson and Sammy Moore were amongst the most impressive performers.

The draw leaves the Blues seven points clear at the top of the Pontin's Holidays Combination League East Division table. Two more wins should guarantee the title.

Town: Supple, Barron, Nash (Tooms 82), Fenn, Robinson, Upson, Reason, Moore, O'Callaghan, Leabon (Ainsley 88), Rhodes. Unused: Plummer, Clemo, Daniels.
