Buying Not Over
Buying Not Over

Town manager George Burley has revealed that player purchasing is not over for the season. It had been thought that Chris Makin would be the last buy before deadline day on March 22nd, but it seems the Town manager has other targets.

The Town manager said: "Certainly if we can add to the squad before the deadline we will do so and bring in at least one player. Sometimes transfers don't happen overnight. It is never easy to bring quality players in."

Town still haven't filled the attacking midfielder vacancy they have been chasing players for all season and that seems to be the area George Burley will most want to fill. Hassan Kachloul (now apparently set for Chelsea at the end of the season), Gert Verheyen and several others have been linked with this role, but no deal has been done. The most recent links were with a number of Belgians with Tom Soetaers from JC Roda in Holland thought to be the favourite. The others mentioned were Marc Hendricx of Genk and Bart Goor from Anderlecht. However, although it is thought that Town watched these players no interest was ever confirmed. There could well be other targets that haven't even been rumoured. And isn't that generally the way with George Burley's transfers?
