Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws has denied reports linking him with a move for Town midfielder George O'Callaghan. However, Brighton boss Dean Wilkins has confirmed his interest in the Irishman and team-mate Matt Richards.

Laws says there is nothing in yesterday's widespread reports claiming that the former Cork City player would be at Hillsborough by the end of the week: “I have made no contact with Ipswich over George O'Callaghan and will not be doing so.”

Local newspaper reports on the south coast reported that the midfielder and Matt Richards were on Brighton and Hove Albion's wish-list, something manager Dean Wilkins has now confirmed: "They are two of a number of players we are considering, but it is impossible to say whether anything will happen before Friday. We are trying our hardest but negotiations can sometimes be difficult."

Darlington are keen to extend Ian Miller's loan spell now that the defender's initial month is up, however, their success may depend on whether the Blues complete the signing of Málaga centre-half César Navas.

On Friday, Town denied Spanish reports claiming a fee had been agreed for the 27-year-old, the Blues saying that they were still waiting to hear Málaga's response to their offer. A report this morning claims that wages could now be an issue holding up the move, although the club previously seemed very confident that personal terms would not prove a problem.

If no agreement with Málaga can be reached before Friday's deadline, it's likely that Miller will not be allowed to extend his stay with the Quakers.

Meanwhile, Alexander Ross, the football consultancy set up by chairman David Sheepshanks and former FA man David Davies, is in the running to take on an advisory role with the United Arab Emirates FA.
