First team coach Bryan Klug says the Blues are moving in the right direction, despite Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Watford.

Klug told the club site: "We have done a lot of work on the training ground and, from what I have seen this season, we are going in the right direction.

"I can see the players coming together better as a unit and that will help our performance in certain areas. We know we need to improve our away form and a solid unit will certainly help that.

"We were well below our best at Watford and there has to be a big improvement on that performance over the rest of the season, but the players are working very hard, the cohesion is coming and progress is being made.

"There will be highs and lows along the way and we know there is still a lot of work to be done, but from what I have seen day-in, day-out working with the players here we are moving forward."

Town's next game is at West Brom on Saturday, 15th September with the current week designated for international fixtures.

Billy Clarke and Owen Garvan will be in action with the Republic of Ireland in a UEFA U21 Championship qualifier against Portugal in Cork on Friday (Sky Sports Three, 7.30pm). Chris Casement is in the Northern Ireland squad for their U21 Championship game with Germany in Lurgan the same night.

None of Town's senior internationals have been included in their squads, although keeper Neil Alexander, who has said he was unsighted for Watford's first goal at Vicarage Road on Saturday, asked to be left out of the Scotland party as his wife is expecting a baby in the next few days.
