Murphy Faces Norwich Kit Ordeal
Murphy Faces Norwich Kit Ordeal
Thursday, 8th Nov 2007 11:55

Town fan and Radio Suffolk presenter Mark Murphy will parade around Portman Road wearing a Norwich City kit in the name of charity this Saturday. Murphy aims to raise at least £1,000 by completing the ordeal at half-time during the Blues' game with Bristol City.

Murphy's co-presenters Emily Fellows and Rob Dunger are responsible for inflicting such torment upon him and they appear to be showing little remorse: "We thought long and hard about his challenge and, knowing how much Mark loathes all things yellow and green, we thought this would be a great way of making money."

The breakfast presenter himself is bravely facing up to the challenge: "This has to be one of the toughest things I've ever had to do.

"I'm not looking forward to walking in front of the North Stand crowd but I will have Pudsey for company. Come to think of it he's in yellow too!"

Murphy was hit but not seriously harmed by a stray firework at the weekend and says wearing a Norwich shirt will be more painful, claiming he is already coming out in a rash.

Norwich City have donated a signed kit for the occasion, while Town are supporting the venture. In a bid to raise a few more pence, the Norwich strip will be auctioned off during Murphy's programme on Children in Need day, Friday 16th November.

To pledge some cash, call the Suffolk Action helpline on 01473 340740 or send a cheque made out to 'BBC Children in Need' to: BBC Radio Suffolk, St Matthew's Street, Ipswich, IP1 3EP.
