Eadie Loves Ipswich!

Norwich fans will be aghast to discover that one of their all-time heroes is backing Town for the Champions' League. Darren Eadie has expressed his admiration and respect for Town and has wished the Blues the best of luck in their bid for Europe's biggest competition.

The former Canary said: "I probably shouldn't say this as an ex-Norwich City player, I've been particularly impressed with Ipswich this season. They've been unbelievable really. I actually thought they would do OK at the start of the season. I didn't think they would get relegated... but I certainly didn't expect them to still be riding on the crest of a wave at this stage."

However Eadie sees no problem with Town qualifying for the Champions' League and is firmly behind them: "Why not? After all they've beaten the likes of Liverpool and Leeds away from home... Good luck to them!"

I'm starting to warm to the fella. Eadie is today being joined at Leicester by his former colleague Lee Marshall. He would have been out of contract at the end of the season and had refused to sign a contract. He has cost Peter Taylor's side £600,000.

Mark Burchill has not been called up to the senior Scotland squad contrary to reports yesterday. It had been thought that he might get the call as Paul Dickov had suffered an injury.

The Academy U19s suffered another loss yesterday. This time they were beaten 3-0 by Watford in a rearranged game. On Saturday they were beaten 5-1 by Aston Villa.

Manu Thetis was substituted at half-time in his trial match for Sheffield United. The Blades won the game 2-1.
