Reserves Fall to First League Defeat of Season
Reserves Fall to First League Defeat of Season

Town's reserves fell to their first league defeat in more than a year as the MK Dons avenged their recent 12-1 thrashing by beating the Blues' second string 3-1 at Woughton-on-the-Green this afternoon.

The visitors never really got to grips with very windy conditions and, after Gary Roberts and Liam Trotter had missed early chances, the home side went ahead. Chris Casement pulled down an attacker inside the area in the 15th minute and the Dons scored from the spot with their first shot of the game.

In the second half the home side had the wind more in their favour and added to their lead on 74 after a mix-up between Jai Reason and Ed Upson on the edge of the box let in a Dons striker.

The third goal came in the 84th minute on an afternoon when few Town players particularly impressed. Fabian Wilnis and Liam Trotter were perhaps the only members of the side to come out of a disappointing performance with much credit.

This afternoon's defeat ends the reserves' 100% league record, although they have already won the Pontin's Holidays Combination League East Division title.

Their last league defeat came at Colchester United last March, although earlier this season Lowestoft beat the Blues 3-2 in the first round of the S1 Sport Suffolk Premier Cup.

Reserves: Colgan, Synnott, Casement, Wilnis, Harding, Upson, Trotter, Reason, Robinson (Daniels 80), Murphy (Ainsley 67), Roberts. Unused: Watson, Ward, Clemo.
