Friars Arrested!
Friars Arrested!
Monday, 9th Apr 2001 14:09

Town reserve winger Sean Friars has been arrested and faces seven charges. The Northern Irish U21 captain will appear in court on Wednesday after being arrested yesterday.

Friars is charged amongst others with drink-driving, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, two counts of assault with intent to resist arrest and failing to stop.

This isn't the first time Friars has been in trouble. Last May he was fined £40 for speeding, £30 for failing to produce his MOT certificate and another £30 for failing to produce his insurance. He was also given two penalty points by Ipswich Magistrates. He was convicted on 7th March last year.

Friars has made just one appearance for the first team since his move from Liverpool as sub against Crewe and many expected the club to let go of him by the end of the season. With ill-disciplined behaviour not tolerated by George Burley this looks increasingly likely.
