Town manager George Burley reportedly was in Scotland to watch Falkirk draw 1-1 with Airdrie at the weekend. Once again his target was teen midfield sensation Mark Kerr. The Scot spent a week on trial at Town earlier in the season and impressed management and players alike.

Town, however, face a battle to sign the midfielder as Leeds also have a long-term interest in the player. They took Kerr on trial the week after Town and there were even reports that they had had an initial offer turned down.

Falkirk manager Alex Totten sees David O'Leary's club as the front-runners at present: "Mark went down to Leeds last week and was there for the Deportivo game. He said he really enjoyed it and his spell there went well. Leeds have now been back on the phone wanting him back again, but we have a game on Tuesday night so it's a matter of arranging a convenient date. But George Burley was also here on Saturday and I know he rates the boy highly as well."

Town defender John Scales was impressed when 19-year-old Kerr had his spell at Town: "He looks very good. He's a very sharp guy and a great finisher. I've been very impressed with him."

Kerr was also said to have impressed the management at Portman Road during his period at Portman Road with Falkirk manager Alex Totten saying at the time: "I spoke to Colin Suggett who said Mark had done very well and Ipswich would like to take another close look at him."

Whether he goes to Town or not it seems inevitable that Kerr will find himself in the Premiership before too long.
