Ipswich Wanderers are taking on international opposition on Saturday May 31st when they face Antigua and Barbuda at their Humber Doucy Lane ground (KO 2pm). The friendly is one of two the Caribbean side are playing in Suffolk as they prepare for World Cup qualifiers against Cuba.

In addition to the Wanderers match, the Antiguans and Barbudans face Lowestoft Town on May 24th at Bungay, as their Crown Meadow pitch is currently being replaced.

The games came about via former Town player and coach Bryan Hamilton, who had a spell working with the Antigua and Barbuda squad and is a friend of Wanderers chairman Ed Nicholls. Hamilton put the idea to another former Blues coach Willie Donachie, who is currently working with the side.

The Antiguans and Barbudans will also spend time training during their time in Suffolk.
