Iván Campo has completed his move to the Blues after passing a medical at Playford Road earlier today. Campo has agreed a two-year deal after leaving Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season.

Last week Campo told the Spanish press that he was delighted to be moving to Portman Road: "I feel that this is going to be a very good move for me. I have been convinced by the club's ambitions and everybody that I have spoken to is serious about mounting a serious challenge this season.

"I'm genuinely excited to be a part of this project and really looking forward to working with Jim Magilton. Mr Magilton has explained what he wants from me and laid out his plans for the season ahead, and I am convinced that I have made the right choice. I also spoke with Pablo Couñago and he has told me what a great club this is.

"I felt that I had a great deal more to offer English football and I'm really very happy be able to continue playing here. This is a whole new challenge for me and I cannot wait to get started."

Campo, 34 and 6ft 1in tall, started his career with a three-year spell at Deportivo Alavés prior to moving to Valencia in 1996. A season later he was with Real Mallorca, before he began five years at Real Madrid, which ended when he joined Bolton permanently in 2003 after a spell on loan.

During his time with Real, Campo was part of their side which won the Champions League in 1999/00. Capped four times by Spain, Campo was in their 1998 World Cup squad.

News that Campo was at Portman Road for last Monday's pre-season game with West Ham first surfaced on the TWTD Message Board when he was spotted around the ground prior to kick off.

TWTD understands that Campo has been handed the number 22 shirt.
