Arsenal are interested in Town youngster Danny Haynes, according to a national newspaper. Haynes is said to have been watched by former Blues coach Stewart Houston, now a scout with the Gunners, as he scored two goals during Tuesday's 4-1 victory over Leyton Orient.

The report values the striker or wide midfielder at £3 million and claims that Arsene Wenger's club are ahead of Middlesbrough, Portsmouth and Wigan for the 20-year-old's signature.

Portsmouth and Wigan have both been linked with the ex-Charlton trainee for some months, with Latics boss Steve Bruce first showing interest in the former England U19 striker last summer during his time as manager of Birmingham. Haynes is contracted to the Blues until 2010.
