Town coach Tony Mowbray has admitted that he has been trying to persuade George Burley for a long time that Town should play a friendly with his old club Celtic. And if this doesn't happen he is hoping for a Champions' League clash between the two next season.

Mowbray, a massive hero in Glasgow still, said: "Some Celtic fans have already written to me outlining this amazing scenario. To be honest, I have been trying for a while to persuade George to arrange a game to give some of our players a taste of the amazing atmosphere generated at Celtic Park. I was at the last Old Firm game at Parkhead and the passion generated that day could simply not be matched by anything in England. George has not been able to put it together yet but now it seems we might be meeting in an altogether more important affair."

Mowbray has also been talking about some of the training methods used by George Burley and himself: "We work hard on the training ground during the week, doing a series of intricate passing drills but all the while trying to keep things simple. If players are executing 20-yard passes successfully during the week, it should come as no surprise when they find a blue shirt on a Saturday afternoon. Passing drills are now second nature to the players."

Mowbray was at Celtic's friendly at Norwich in the winter, a game in which Town loanee Mark Burchill scored. Mogga was amused to see a banner bearing his name: "I went to see Celtic play Norwich at the end of the winter break. I smiled when I saw the banner from the Tony Mowbray Celtic Supporters Club from Maryhill in Glasgow. I wonder if the lads would have the bottle to fly it the night Ipswich play Celtic in the Champions' League?"
