Town chairman David Sheepshanks has taken on a new role as regional chairman of the bank Coutts and Co. Sheepshanks, whose job with the Blues moved to a non-executive basis earlier in the summer, will manage client relationships in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Joanna Thornel, Coutts' managing partner for East Anglia and the Midlands, welcomed the appointment: "We're delighted that David has agreed to take up the role as chairman covering the Norfolk and Suffolk regions, helping to strengthen the existing and successful team through his strong links to the local business community.

"We're confident that he will be a great asset to us and will assist the bank in its continued success of providing wealth management solutions to an increasing number of wealthy individuals within the region.”

Sheepshanks is pleased to be taking on the role: "Since joining Coutts as a client, I have been very impressed with both the personal attention to detail and the quality of service which the bank provides. I'm really looking forward to working with the team, using my experience to focus on strengthening the business in the local area and acting as an ambassador.

"This fits well with my long term ambition for the region to continue to grow as a financial and commercial centre of importance.”
