Striker Dean Bowditch netted on his debut for loan club Brentford as Billy Clarke got back in the goals for his temporary side Darlington.

Bowditch's 50th minute goal – a header at the far post – was in vain as the Bees lost 2-1 at home to Rochdale.

Clarke scored his first goal for five games in the seventh minute as the Quakers recorded a 2-1 victory over a Rochdale side which included Liam Trotter. Clarke has now scored nine goals in 17 starts and one sub appearance.

Matt Richards and Brighton beat Millwall 4-1, while Dan Harding was in the Southend side which drew 3-3 with Colchester in the Essex derby. Chris Casement was left out of the Hamilton 18 which lost 2-0 at Motherwell.
