TWTD understands that Town are eyeing highly-rated RKC Waalwijk left midfielder Ferne Snoyl.

The 23-year-old, who can also operate at left-back, played youth football for DWO Zoetermeer and Feyenoord before moving into the Rotterdam club's senior set-up and breaking into the first team in 2003/04.

Loan spells with Den Bosch and in Scotland with Aberdeen followed, prior to a permanent move to NEC Nijmegen in 2006. During his time with the Dons, manager Jimmy Calderwood described Snoyl as the new Edgar Davids.

The former Dutch youth international's time with NEC ended unhappily a year later when his contract was terminated after an arrest for a domestic incident. Snoyl had previously annoyed coach Mario Been by turning up to pre-season training overweight, prompting an enforced visit to a dietician.

RKC Waalwijk quickly offered Leidschendam-born Snoyl a return to action and he has impressed with the Eerste Divisie (second division) side, helping them to their current position of second in the table.

Town are very much in the market for a left-sided midfielder during the transfer window with the Blues having confirmed that a move for Luciano Civelli from Argentine side Banfield is currently in progress.

The latest reports in Argentina claim Banfield continue to wait on Town to progress the deal further, with Snoyl perhaps seen as an alternative option should the Civelli move fall through.
