Town midfielder Owen Garvan won the U21 Player of the Year category at the 19th Eircom/FAI International Soccer Awards on Sunday evening. Garvan beat fellow nominees Sheffield United's Stephen Quinn, brother of Town's Alan, and his former Home Farm team-mate Darren O'Dea of Celtic.
The award, which recognised Garvan's excellent form for the Irish U21s this season, was announced at Dublin's Citywest Hotel and was shown on TV in Ireland.
Reading's Kevin Doyle won the Senior International Player award, while the Young Player of the Year category went to Aiden McGeady of Celtic and Norwich City's Michael Spillane won the U19 trophy.
Garvan, who has won seven U21 caps and has scored three goals, all this season, is currently with the Irish U21 squad ahead of Tuesday's friendly against Germany in Cork.
