Trotter Set for Scunthorpe Loan

TWTD understands that Town midfielder Liam Trotter will join League One Scunthorpe on loan later this week. Trotter spent a few days on trial with the Iron last week and impressed the Scunthorpe management.

The 20-year-old was on loan with Grimsby for three months earlier in the season and was first noticed by Iron boss Nigel Adkins during a Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie against the Mariners.

Meanwhile, Northampton manager Stuart Gray says he is hopeful that Billy Clarke will stay with the Cobblers beyond the first month of his current loan spell.

The weather has put paid to two matches during the Republic of Ireland U21 international's period at Sixfields, but Gray says Clarke may be able to play in the rescheduled matches: "Nobody wants to miss games and frustratingly for Billy he's missed two in the past week.

"Hopefully, after his month with us, Ipswich won't call him back and he can catch up with the Tuesday fixtures we've got coming up.

"I'm in dialogue with Jim Magilton and the better Ipswich do, the better it will be for us."
