Baltacha Linked Again

The Scottish press are once again linking Town with Sergei Baltacha Jnr. The son of the former Town star and first Russian in English football has seen his St Mirren side relegated this season and as one of their prize assets is likely to be the subject of speculation.

Baltacha Jnr, a Scottish U21 international, has long been linked with Town with a large number of stories appearing during last season. His name first appeared in connection with Town as long ago as Town;s previous Premiership era when he travelled with the Town squad to an away game. The teenage Baltacha reportedly spent the journey playing chess with Bontcho Guentchev.

The current link suggests that Town watched him as St Mirren lost 2-1 to Aberdeen at the weekend. He is a 21-year-old defender (central or left), although he has been known to play up front on occasion. He has made 39 starts for St Mirren, has played another 13 games as sub and has scored one goal.
