There seem to be further developments on the Brynjar Gunnarsson situation. We have been reporting rumours in Stoke suggesting he may be a Town target for two weeks and reports now suggest the Blues have been given permission to speak to the player.

According to what is termed a source close to the club, Town have made enquiries for the player and negotiations are on-going. His price is quoted variously as £1.5 million, £2 million and £3 million. We suspect that around the £2 million mark may well be the eventual cost should Town purchase the player.

See previous NewsNet for more details of the Icelandic defender.

Town were also linked with Manchester City defender Laurant Charvet over the weekend, although this could well just have been tabloid talk.
