Fry: Town Draw is Rubbish!
Fry: Town Draw is Rubbish!
Thursday, 13th Aug 2009 10:30

Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry says drawing Town in the second round of the Carling Cup is “rubbish”.

Fry was disappointed that his side weren’t pulled out of the hat slightly sooner: "It was a rubbish draw. That always seems to be the case for us these days.

"We were one tie away from pulling out Tottenham and that is the sort of game we wanted for the chairman.

"It would have been fantastic to have got a team like Spurs or Manchester City down here, but I guess it could have been a lot worse as well.

"At least we are at home and will have a very good chance of making progress. Hopefully the Manchester United connection between Darren and Roy will attract a lot of attention."

Posh and the Blues will meet in the week commencing 24th August.

Meanwhile, reports in Scotland continue to link Dundee United midfielder Morgaro Gomis with Town with one newspaper claiming that the Blues had a £450,000 offer turned down earlier in the summer.

Town manager Roy Keane was recently reported to have dismissed the link after widespread claims that the Blues were about to make an £800,000 bid with the SPL club valuing the Senegalese international somewhere nearer the £1.8 million mark Wigan paid Hamilton for James McCarthy.

Elsewhere, former Blue Alan Lee has been linked with a move from Crystal Palace to Swansea. Current Blue Pablo Couñago recently turned down a switch to the Liberty Stadium.

And, in one of the summer’s most surprising moves, former Town keeper Andy Marshall has joined Aston Villa on a one-year deal having been released by Coventry at the end of last season.

Illogical and provocative statement aimed at unsettling Keane and the team. However, the probable result will be that Peterbogwater United will get beaten and that will be the end of that.

Nothing to see here...move along.
It's Barry Fry, what do people expect. He has a contract with the redtop press to spout some contaversial bollox about some other team or person every 10 minutes.

What an idiot. If we win we'll certainly rub it in his face at peterborough. 2 years ago his side were in League 2!! - That sums up Barry Fry.

That's it! Send Connor and the boys in!

Connor won't be playing. International duty. Barry Fry does like a mindless comment doesnt he? Still, maybe this comment and the Ferguson v Keane factor may get the Sky cameras down to the game to cover it.

Oh dear, toys out of the pram on here today. You are an average Championship side, looking for prove yourselves against higher opposition, and you draw another average championship side at home. Of course that's a rubbish draw. It's neither one thing or the other.
And at no point has Barry said ITFC are rubbish, or belittled our club in any way. He's just made a truthful comment about the next round of the cup.

Ha ha Barry what an idiot. Clearly he is blind to see that the tie is a good one. The only chance of selling out an away end of your ground in a "2nd Round" League Cup is to play someone local.

Guys guys, these are our local rivals now. Lets get the ball rolling. Norwich are gone. If peterborough manage to stay up, which is a big ask really, then our derbies should be interesting. They attempt to play football but have no real heritage. They're a backwater club with no trophy cabinet trying to get a payday. Lets give it to them, 3-nil style.

Well of course it's rubbish, we think it is a rubbish draw, they think it is a rubbish draw, Sky think it is a rubbish draw as they will ignore it.

Well said Barry Fry, a man who speaks the truth.
