Rosenior Joining Town On Loan
Rosenior Joining Town On Loan
Wednesday, 2nd Sep 2009 08:22

Reading’s Liam Rosenior is set to join the Blues on loan for the season. News of a potential loan move for right-back Rosenior broke just before the window closed at 5pm on Tuesday.

There is as yet no confirmation from the Football League as to whether that move went through before the deadline, but if it didn’t the switch is likely to be rubber-stamped when the emergency loan window opens next Tuesday.

Rosenior, the son of ex-Fulham and West Ham player Leroy, started his career with Bristol City, moving on to Fulham for £55,000 in 2003. A loan spell at Torquay, where his father was manager, followed in 2004, and in 2007 he joined Reading for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old has been a regular in the Reading side this season and has made 67 starts and two sub appearances for the Royals, but is yet to score.

According to reports yesterday, Town full-back David Wright was being targeted by Reading to move in the opposite direction. There is no confirmation as to whether this deal is in a similar position to the Rosenior move or if it will occur once the emergency window opens.

It is a bit of an odd one Byrne_16 - I too am a fan of David Wright. Always seems to put in the effort with his raiding runs down the right in a Stockwell-esque manner, solid defending, and even popping up with the odd goal! I guess if there is any truth in this, there is something either in his personality, commitment, or style of play that Keano doesn't like.

Don't know much about Rosenior, but if he has been pretty much an ever-present at Reading, he must be a decent player.

Not sure what to make of this. Reading want a new right back so we get their old one?

Who's the winner here?

So why not play Wright at left back, a position he is comfortable in. Then you have a decent right back and a decent left back. Makes sense. Well it does to me anyway

better to have a left footed left back (thatcher) keeps shape and balance to the side something magilton failed to do

David Wright was our third best player, last season. Like Roy, I saw him skinned by Boyd at Posh, but Boyd is a very good player and would have eaten Bruce alive. At least Wright holds his position, unlike our Temporary Skipper when he plays full-back.

I have said before that our best left-back is Wright. The greatest left-back of all, Terry Cooper of Dirty Leeds, was right footed.

The swap with Rosenior is nonsensical. Are Reading telling themselves they are getting rid of That Rubbishy Rosenior? This is just musical chairs of the purest kind. Robson signed one player per year!

Cant believe reading would want to swap , Wright is a good player but Rosenior shines in an already good team , they must have someone else in mind. If we can, we should keep Wright as well as signing Rosenior . David is a good sloid , dependable pro.

Keane clearly doesn't rate David Wright and he appears to be mystery man number 3. I agree that he has looked good for us 90% of the time, however, Keane sees him in training, we don't. He can't be doing what is being asked of him or Keane wouldn't want him gone.

From what I know of him Rosenior is a decent player, so sounds like a good move all round. And he's got to be a million % man to have made made 67 starts and two sub appearances this season!

Wright = great professional, solid, reliable player. What has he done wrong over the last 3 years? Not much! Agree with some of the comments above, namely he's our best LEFT back, if you want to put Rosenior on the right. But if you go, David, I wish you all the very best of luck!

Old Git does have a point, Wright on the Left? Smith will provide competition for the slot but needs to ensure crosses don't come in as easy as they have been.

Back Line for me

Wright, McAuley, Bruce, Rosenior

On the bench - Pim or Smith depending on cover required.

Can't help thinking that a few players might be going out on Loan until next Transfer window, next week will tell.

doubtful hudson, Utd will want to keep hold of him as owen will get injured in the next couple of weeks and berbatov looks dreadful, that leaves rooney and wellbeck...nice thought though

Anybody who claims David Wright is our best left back is an absolute twonk, is unable to be objective and has very little understanding of the defensive side of the game. Same as those who think the sun shines out of Bruce's backside while McAuley is useless.

its not over yet and while i dont like loans Keano will be bringing more until he has his team. Also puzzled about Wright as like many i dont feel that having Bruce at full back does him any good. As McAuley plays there for Ireland i'm surprised we havent! Still the two week break is just what we need to regroup and get new players in. As has been said a centre forward wouldnt go amiss unless Keano believes that the midfield will provide better support now.

I see Reading have signed right back Shaun Cummings (from Chelsea, previously on loan at West Brom), which is why they will be offloading Rosenior to us. Doubt David Wright will go the other way now.

Few people on here keep saying "David Wright is steady and a good defender" which yes he is, but is he good enough to get a team promoted and play in the Premiership?! NO!!

Rosenior is a class player with Premierhip experiance and will be the type of fullback we have missed, a skillful attacking player who actually does a full backs role and runs the line!!

Aslong as he grows back his afro, he has my blessing to wear no.2 for the town!

Wright is not replacing Rosenior, he is staying here. Rosenior is going cos their manager doesn't rate him and they have young academy full backs they want to give a go with. Apparently he is not that good and has poor distribution. We shall see...
