McAuley Again Linked With Blades Friday, 11th Sep 2009 08:48
Sheffield United are again reported to be keen on signing Town central defender Gareth McAuley on loan. Earlier in the week, the Blades and Middlesbrough were both linked with the Northern Irishman.
The South Yorkshire club are said to see McAuley as a replacement for Matthew Kilgallon, who is reportedly on his way to either Newcastle or Wigan, although a move to the Premier League Latics couldn’t take place until the transfer window opens again in January.
Although it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see McAuley move on, it’s unlikely that Town would allow the 29-year-old to depart without first signing another senior central defender on loan.
Close to the end of the transfer window, the Blues were chasing Sheffield Wednesday’s Richard Wood, but the Owls now appear confident that their former captain will sign a new contract at Hillsborough.

If McAuley is quality what does that John Terry. He might be a good defender, but he does not need to hoof the ball to our strikers all the time. no wonder we cant score

Ok mate. No point in arguing who the prat is or who looks the cock lol. I was just stating i dont think it would be funny at all as im sure you wouldnt. Anyway to the point of mcauley ive never really rated him for me he doesnt win enough headers and hes inability to pass the ball really annoys me. Wouldnt be sad to see him go however i find it hard to get my head around why 2 of the top teams would want him. Id bite there hands off for 1 million pounds if i was Mr Keane.

It is not good to send him to a direct competitor like Sheff Utd or Boro. I'd rather keep him here - he is having a potential to be a great deffender.

French Blue yoru right I take it back, of course I wouldnt find it funny, infact i would most likely be in tears for quite some time. I donth ink it will happen tho but at the same time the way things sit at the mo cant see us even breaking into the top half. However who knows how the new players will gel, I for one will be cheering em on, as I always bloody do. Proper wich io was born in Manchester sometimes lol

McAuley is the best centre-back at the club right now, ok he is no Kevin Beattie or even Alan Hunter, but surely if we are looking to get in another centre-back it should be to PARTNER McAuley rather than replace him. At the moment our manager seems to be acting in a totally random way hoping that somehow 11 strangers will gell into a team and we might win a game.
