First Robson Shirts Up for Auction
First Robson Shirts Up for Auction
Thursday, 1st Oct 2009 10:29

A number of the commemorative shirts worn by Town’s players during Saturday’s game against Newcastle United are now up for auction on eBay. The shirts worn by Pablo Couñago, Richard Wright and Lee Martin are the first to go under the hammer.

The shirts have been signed on the back and the front by the player, while the club are also providing a certificate of authenticity.

All the shirts worn on the day will be auctioned, along with some second shirts prepared for the game and some which are unnamed and unnumbered. These will be signed by the whole squad. Newcastle are auctioning their shirts from the game.

To bid on the shirts, click here. All proceeds from the auctions go to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Meanwhile, the latest batch of friendship scarves produced by Town and Newcastle for the game are available for pre-order from the club shop and official website here. The first two supplies of the scarves sold out within a day of being delivered. Scarves can be pre-ordered until October 18th.

Amazing how much they are going for already!! The three shirts on there so far will bring in over £2000 for the Foundation ..... wow! Plus all the others and the Newcastle ones - the Foundation will get a major windfall which is a further great tribute to Sir Bobby.

Well done to all involved.

I know they're going for a lot already but they're woefully advertised. N'castle?! People search Newcastle!

There could be potential bidders not finding these items and the fund could be missing out on some vital cash! If anyone knows the person selling these then advise them in future to use Ipswich, not ITFC and Newcastle not N'castle. Also Bobby Robsons name in the title might help as would the word England!

I was hoping to buy one, but I'm pleased for the Foundation that I can't afford one!

Corshamblue - I had a smiliar thought! I'd love one, but they are well out of my price range, lol. Like you say though - its good for the SBRF.

Hopefully the players will buy them all as a permanent reminder of how badly they played and let us and Sir Bobby down.

I was hoping to have a cheeky myself but im sure my missus would kill me if i came home with a shirt that cost me over a grand!
Im so pleased that they are going for so much though. I hope they all go for well over a grand a piece.
As for DalianAkinson' post......Jog on mate! Move on in life not dwell in the past!

It would be nice if they also sold a limited addition in the club shop after the big money ones have gone. I certainly can't afford the money they are at.

Have to agree with Papa - what mug listed these??

Tried to find them on ebay without first clicking on the link, and couldn't. Surely Ipswich, and Bobby Robson in the title would be attracting higher bids!!?

Good to see what they are up to anyway, great cause.

Spot on Elburro & Papa ... And it was Ipswich Town Football Club that are auctioning these shirts (as the seller). With ITFC & N'Castle not words that people would search on ebay you cant help feel that these could get more money if marketed correctly. With Ipswich Town being backed & sponsored by marketing & business guru the Marcus Evans group i would of thought it could have been done a little better .... if more shirts are to be auctioned please note this for the future auctions. Nice to see that the shirts are getting top dollar though and all for a such a worthwhile & fantastic cause .....

Agreed with nthstd... I'd love to own a replica of these. I'd cough up £50 for one, it surely can't cost more than £20 to make them. I bet they'd sell 1000 at that price, and at £30 profit a go that's £30,000 to the foundation. Not to be sneezed at!! I bet Dobbie would have one at that price too...
