Burley on Hogg
Burley on Hogg

Town manager George Burley has spoken about new Academy signing Chris Hogg. Town have taken the 16-year-old defender from York and are to pay £50,000 compensation, plus extras and a sell-on clause. Earlier reports suggested the fee was as high as six figures, but that seems to be an exaggeration.

Burley said of his latest capture: "He is a player well known to our Academy director Bryan Klug and we are pleased that Chris will be joining us. He has been with York on schools' forms for a few years and it is standard procedure for us to be paying them some money."

Town's new signing will be in the England U17s squad playing against Brazil and Italy at Bolton and Wigan later in the summer. Town first became aware of him when he was seen playing for the England youngsters earlier this season.
