Keane: Deals Unlikely Until January
Keane: Deals Unlikely Until January
Friday, 6th Nov 2009 10:55

Town manager Roy Keane says there are unlikely to be any additions to his squad before January and that includes Senegalese defender Ibrahima Faye. The Blues boss says that the paperwork relating to the move to sign the recent trialist is holding up that deal, although he hints at the outside possibility of a loan defender joining the club before the new year.

Keane said: “I don’t imagine any players will be coming into the club before January. I’d be very surprised.

“If there’s any movement before the deadline [on November 26th] it will be players going out on loan, but I can’t see any players coming in.”

Keane says that the move to sign the free agent trialist he revealed last week is still ongoing and that the player is interested in joining the Blues: “We’re keen on the boy, we think he’s a decent player but there are one or two details with passports and work permits. I wouldn’t bore you with the details.

“That might drag on for two or three weeks and in that time we might have some more defenders back, and as much as I’m saying I’d be surprised if another player comes in, we’re still waiting on feedback from one club about a defender and if that was to happen then we maybe might follow up with the deal.

“I want to be careful about getting the balance of the squad right and, as much as the boys who came in [on trial] last week were good players, we’ve also got one or two lads coming back from injury as well and I don’t want to overload the squad.”

Keane says that Icelandic U19 international strike pair Pape Mamadou Faye and Ragnar Leosson have returned home after their spells with the club: “They’ve gone back, but we’re keeping an eye on them. Sometimes they come over on trial and you don’t make a decision after a few days. Maybe they’ll come back again.”

Superflude - I think that everyone who dont agree with me aint got a clue! Not because I am so much more intelligent than you but because I take in al lthe stats and law of averages meaning we are in trouble!

A slight improvement on complete utter sh*t means we will only be a little bit better hence still sh*t and in relegation battle!

What I dont understand is he wins one game and now people are loving him more than ever before!

Thanks bye bye.

Following some of the extreme negativity on this message board I thought I'd add some notes of hope for all those Town fans like me, who are actually trying to get behind the team to support and encourage whoever RK plays in order to lift us up the table and away from our current predicament.

Yes we have only won once in 15 games, but we have also taken 8 points from other games — we have had wholesale changes to the team which needs time to gel and a portion of good luck/rub of the green which we haven't seem to have had this season.

If we aim to win every home game and at least draw every away game, come the end of the season we'll have another 69 points — 80 in total (same as 3rd place Sheff Utd last season).

Not saying that it will be the case, but there is still a long long way to go and a lot of points up for grabs… To quote the late Christopher Reeve (a Quadriplegic, who towards the end of his life begun to learn to walk again) — Nothing is Impossible!

COYB!!

callumgarryskeemer YOU ARE A PRAT IN THE EXTREME.

How come you are the brains and the know it all about what's wrong at PM???

Your opinion counts for about 3% of ITFC fans... How can 3% be right??

You work it out! You are just a stupid budgie boat rocker. Go and wind up Kings Lynn fans, they are more your level..

You will find in quite a lot of situations that the minority are right. At this stage I don't think it's about who's right or who's wrong, it's about common sense. The problem with common sense is it isn't very common - hence the 97% of Ipswich fans backing Keane.

I honestly believe it's time for Keane to go.............. and kill UEFA81 and CGS. It's all negative with you two, you blatentely sit at home every Saturday and just look out for Ipswich results. It's all about confidence and the players confidence must be higher than last week now that we have a win. Get behind the team and Keane for once in your sorry little life!

As much as i disagree with the views of CGS and UEFA81 they are entitled to them and entitled to put them on here so they should not be told to stop posting as some of the previous comments have suggested. I just hope Keane continues to turn it around as that would make all of us happy!

I usually sit at home on Saturday and work Moscowblue. As I live 180 miles from Ipswich it is quite difficult for me to get to games as I am sure you can appreciate. However, whenever I get the chance I will try my best to get to games but can mainly only realisticly get to close-by away games and down to PR if I get a weekend off - I then stay in a guest house in Ipswich and make a weekend of it.

Where I live Ipswich fans are very very few and far between but I am fortunate enough to know a group of lads who all live within a radius of 40 miles of me who all follow Town and when our commitments allow we hire a minibus to go down to PR and watch the games together. I find the local Ipswich fans we meet all very friendly and amiable and they admire us for our dedication in travelling so far to watch our team and it makes them happy to know there are dedicated fans from 'up north'.

I am proud to follow a decent club like Ipswich instead of the local crap and I take a lot of flack from my mates for doing so. I don't need flack from my fellow Ipswich supporters on top of that.

I have a rights to my opinion, so think on.

UEFA81, I undestand that you cannot get to games but surely people who go to the games and watch the team week in week out shoould be the only ones that comment on here as they are the ones who see individual performances from players etc. instead of listening to the radio.

Moscow - as an Ipswich fan I have every right to post my opinions about the club on here. I see nothing in the rules about 'only fans who go to games being allowed to post'. That's ridiculous! For a start, who would know who had been to games or not anyway?

If you feel that strongly about it then I suggest you contact the owners of this site and present your case to them.
