Murray Wins Cap, Garvan Out Monday, 16th Nov 2009 09:02 Academy striker Ronan Murray won his ninth Republic of Ireland U19 cap after coming on as a half-time sub in his side’s 2-1 European Championship qualifying group victory over Albania in San Marino on Sunday. The win means the young Irish side have already progressed through to the elite qualifying phase of the competition. They complete their games with a match against Italy on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Town midfielder Owen Garvan is out of the Republic of Ireland U21 side’s European Championship qualifier in Armenia on Tuesday as he is suspended. Garvan, who came close to winning Saturday’s game in Georgia with a 91st minute volley which struck the post, has won 14 caps at U21 level. Elsewhere, former Blues boss George Burley looks set to be sacked by Scotland in the wake of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Wales in Cardiff. The SFA are set to meet to discuss Burley’s future later this week.
