Pablo Couñago is finding his feet in England and says he likes Ipswich. The striker started training with his new team yesterday and he feels he may find English football's physical nature difficult to master.

Town's first ever Spaniard said: "I have been training with Celta for twelve consecutive months and I do not know how I will respond to the physical level. However, at the moment, I am well and I hope to fulfil all the hopes they have in me. The initial solitude will not be a problem. I already knew that this would happen. Ipswich, from what I have seen, is quite pretty with its low houses and the view of the port."

He is impresed with Town's facilities: "We have a great sport complex, with 12 fields of natural grass and one of artificial turf undercover. They have already said to me that here, during the week, people do not worry about football. They only bother about the games. That provides tranquility to the players, although to me it did not seem to be a disadvantage to always be surrounded by supporters."

The early afternoon finish enjoyed by English footballers has caught Pablo unawares: "At 14.30 hours, the work day finishes. There are things that surprise you. It is normal in a new country."

Town have arranged for Pablo to have language lessons as soon as possible so he can communicate with his team-mates and manager.

Guy Bonwick, the U17 Academy player and Fa Youth Cup captain, has signed professional terms at the club. Bonwick was one of the stars of the Youth Cup run last year and will again be eligible this season.

Bonwick has signed a one-year deal at Portman Road.
