McAuley Fine to Face Old Club
McAuley Fine to Face Old Club

Central defender Gareth McAuley has revealed that he broke his wrist at Crystal Palace on Boxing Day and has played the last two games having had injections and wearing a strapping.

McAuley doesn’t expect the problem to hamper him when the Blues take on his former club Leicester at the Walkers Stadium on Sunday: “The bone is knitting together and it will not stop me playing at the weekend. It is the nobbly bit in my wrist and it is no big deal."

The Northern Irishman may not require an injection ahead of his first return to Leicester since leaving them to join the Blues in the summer of 2008.

Meanwhile, Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has been charged with improper conduct by the FA after being sent to the stand for allegedly swearing at officials during Town’s 2-1 FA Cup victory at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

Good news. He was not playing so well when we played Leic. at home and took a bit of stick from their supporters; " Leicester reject" if I remember rightly. Playing well now so perhaps can get his own back, plus a trademark headed goal as a bonus.

he's gone up in my estimation now, you wouldn't see some of the premiership pussies playing on with broken bones!

It still doesn't beat a certain Town stalwart who scored a goal with a broken leg.

Top man is our Gareth, softly spoken but strong of word and will. I'm hoping he'll get 7 or 8 goals this season and one against his old club is part of Football Traditions.

COYB & Nice one Gareth, the stability at the back has been the backbone of some improving performances.

Quite right - he wanted to be included in the Guiness Book of Records for it but I don't think it was accepted!

Plus another Town stalwart who played in an England name with a very bloody nose!!
