Keane: Lisbie Could Still Be Sold
Keane: Lisbie Could Still Be Sold
Friday, 8th Jan 2010 15:32

Town boss Roy Keane says the Blues could still sell Kevin Lisbie before the end of January, despite deciding against recalling the striker from his season-long loan at Colchester United. Lisbie will remain with the U’s unless Town receive an offer from another club.

Keane says he decided not to recall the former Charlton man as he has plenty of other striking options at present: "I know I said a few weeks back that Kevin would be coming back but I think I'm entitled to change my mind and Kevin will be staying with Colchester for now.

"He's playing games and with Stern staying another month and Connor looking sharp, Jon Stead only missing two league games and Pablo and Tamás Priskin pushing to get back involved, we have decided to leave Kevin at Colchester.

"That situation can change, like it can with any player at the club, if we get an offer for him. But for now he will stay with Colchester and I would think that if he is still there at the end of January, then he's likely to see the season out with them. We will see how it pans out though."

Lisbie is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2011, having joined the club from Colchester for £750,000 in 2008.

If "We have enough striking options at present" does that mean we are not going to sign a 20 goal striker that we desperatley need this month?! Please tell me otherwise!!

Stead does have an eye for goal, just frustrates me how incredibly slow he is and poor at heading. But our best option for goals currently. Did ok last season, and was just picking up some form.

Leaving Lisbie there could be because he has something else up his sleeve? Hope so anyway!

can we please get some col u fans on here so they can see all the comments from ipswich fans who have seen him play at championship and concluded that he is rubbish! Cos all the col u fans i talk to think hes brilliant and that he could still play in this league, i dont think so.

Lisbie doesn't want to play for us. We don't want him, so keep him at Colchester. Lisbie seems to think he's excellent and bigger than the club! At Championship level he's terrible. If we can sell him great - cash in on some of the money Jim wasted.
