Bruce's Leicester Switch Confirmed
Bruce's Leicester Switch Confirmed
Monday, 1st Feb 2010 15:00

Town have confirmed that central defender Alex Bruce has joined Leicester City on loan until the end of the season, as first revealed on TWTD on Saturday.

Bruce has failed to re-establish a place in the first team after picking up a groin injury in the defeat to Newcastle in late September. The Irish international, 25, had briefly captained the Blues but lost the armband to Jon Walters during his absence.

The former Birmingham man watched Leicester’s 0-0 home draw with Newcastle United on Saturday evening and subsequently met with Foxes officials to discuss the formalities of the move.

In the summer, Bruce signed a new contract aimed at keeping him at Town until 2011.

Meanwhile, striker Kevin Lisbie was training with Colchester United this morning, which suggests Town are yet to receive an offer from anyone else for the 31-year-old.

On Friday, boss Roy Keane said he would make a decision on Lisbie’s future today, however, it seems increasingly likely that the former Jamaica international will continue his spell on loan with the U’s until the end of the season.

Elsewhere, former Blue Marcus Bent has completed his loan move from Birmingham to QPR, who have also signed Town frontman Tamás Priskin on a similar basis.

Bit confused

This time last year the so called fans on here were calling for Magiltons head for not signing Bruce up as he was the best defender in the Championship.
Now we are lower in the table and Mr K is letting Bruce go???????

Keane out Keane out

The same so called fand said that Delaney was a waste of money and McAuley was the worst defender in the Championship and now they are god!!!!!!!!!

So we have signed Bruce and instead of letting him go at the end of last season we give him a better contract and pay him for another 6 months.!!!!!

Interesting one. Bruce hasn't excelled this season and has been injury prone. Yet, is Pim a better back up. Not for me.

Not a good decision.

Bruce said today that Keane gave him the choice of fighting for his place or going to get some games. Bruce is obviously all too aware that he won't get in front of our current back two at the moment and is in the prime of his career so will want to play. Is there a 24 clause with this?

r375alh - genuine question, how many games have you been to this season? i would imagine that it can't be many. delaney has been one of most consistent defenders this season (after his switch from left back obviously). I like the fact that you pick his mistake against Leicester as your main argument, ignoring the shots he has saved off the time, the times he has thrown his body in the way of the ball etc. Who are your favourite players? I'm sure we could find mistakes they have made. Delaney has been a rock for us recently. Although he is prone to the long ball, he can play when he wants to, as his pitch-length runs and goals he scored at Hull prove (see youtube). I'm a big Bruce fan, but he is one of the worst at playing the long ball game in our defence.

In retrospect, reading your comment again I have a feeling you are joking and that I'm being whoooooshed. I hope so. Otherwise you're silly.

Hopefully we will be able to recall him if we get injuries etc. I agree Delaney is playing well at the
moment but we may need a centre back who can actually co-ordinate his left foot and should keane decide for some reason he needs to start 4 CBs in the defence again I would much rather have him at LB/RB than pim
