Worthington Delighted With Healy Move
Worthington Delighted With Healy Move
Tuesday, 2nd Feb 2010 09:06

Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington is delighted with striker David Healy’s move to the Blues. The 30-year-old signed on loan for the rest of the season just before yesterday’s 5pm deadline.

Worthington is pleased that Healy will be getting games while with the Blues: "This is a great move for David, and it will ensure he is playing regular first team football.

"It is vital to be playing regularly, especially when it comes to competing at international level.

"This will be a break from the long, arduous spell on the sidelines he has experienced at Sunderland."

Healy has scored a record 35 goals in 78 games for Northern Ireland.

Moan moan moan - It is all some fans do.
I wonder if goal - goal - goal and win - win - win will change their minds or if they are just that type of fan... in it for the pain and secretly enjoy the misery?

I agree don't write off a player before he's played. I remember loads of people slagging off Jim for signing a nobody from Chester called Walters before he'd kicked a ball for us!

Healy's goals for NI speak for themselves - they weren't all against the lesser countries. Remember the goal against England (a cracker) and 3 against Spain although that was over 3 years ago. A lot of strikers flourish with a fresh start, the right players providing the service and of course confidence - lacking from Priskin. Healy has been in the wilderness for too long and Keano can give him new appetite. He could do with a goal on Saturday, Murphy too.

Keanostackle - Trotter was out of contract and no longer our player but Keane chose to give him a new contract and therefore effectively signed him - even though we were overflowing with midfielders and it was arguably our strongest area last season, and yet he was buying yet more and more in that position.

I presume it was the same contract situation for Bruce.

Good luck to Healy and Murphy though.
