Murphy: Town Should Be Doing Better
Murphy: Town Should Be Doing Better
Thursday, 4th Feb 2010 10:58

New signing Daryl Murphy says the Blues should be in a far better league position given the players that are at the club. The Irish international joined the Blues on loan until the end of the season from Sunderland along with David Healy on Monday.

Murphy told the club site: "Ipswich should be in a much better position than they are at the moment with the players they have here.

"I know a lot of the lads and not just the Sunderland ones. I've played with or against Owen Garvan, Damien Delaney, Jon Stead, Brian Murphy and a few of the others and they are all good footballers.

"I'm come here to play football and help Ipswich move up the table and I'm looking forward to it.

"I've not played anywhere near the games I would have liked at Sunderland recently so the chance to do that at Ipswich made it an easy decision for me to come here."

Murphy says he is again looking forward to working with Roy Keane: "The chance to work with Roy here is obviously another attraction.

"I was sorry to see him leave Sunderland because I enjoyed playing for him. He knows what he wants from you and I know how he works.”

tends to suggest that we're not getting the best out of what we have. I wonder why?

Why was the so called "easy decision" not quite so easy on the two or three other occasions?

Very pleased to have him here finally. COYB!

That's a pretty astute observation...let's hope he's just as sharp in front of goal!

The amount of sarcasm on this message board amazes me. No wonder the support has been so bad at PR this season.

Standard comments from a new signing. They all say the same. Truth is its because of the players we have at this club, that we deserve to be in the position we are in.
Hopefully these two can at least score some goals and keep us up, talk of play off push is preposterous.

IpswichKev - in my 35 years of watching ITFC I have found that support does tail of a bit during relgation battles. Some of us have been lost for words at times this season, never mind a cheerie song or two.......

ipswich kev.
The support is poor at PR at the moment because of the crap play on the field and the position it has put us in, not the sarcasm on any supporters site?

I wouldn't write us off - remember this is the Championship where anything can happen. Teams taking points off other teams ... We have got in players that can make a difference and I know that they will. I hope they will at Boro on saturday but defo against QPR. I back one of the new boys (should they play) to score at QPR.

Where I live I can Pee on QPR and I hope our boys do too. (Bragging rights!)

COYB!!!!

tractorboybig..

the crap play on the field,....

I must take issue with this, i take it you haven't been going to PR recently?
Bad results, yes, crap play definitely not, perhaps if you were to go and watch, rather than just comment on here (sarcastically or not), then you would see for yourself.

Firstly, I dont believe a word that I ever hear a footballer say (and this isnt a dig at Murphy, but at footballers in general) - they all say "easy decision" etc, "great manager" etc - its just spin and every footballer says it, and would say exactly the same at the next club. Just dont read anything into it.

Secondly, Murphy has made a backhand swipe at Keane really (probably unknowingly) by saying that the players are good enough and should be doing better, cos at the end of the day getting the best out of players (motivation, positional, tactics, morale etc) is down to the manager, who has had long enough now. Lets hope that he improves things, cos it has been below par so far.

The criticism of our players and manager is nothing new. I can remember people slagging off Ray Crawford, Paul Mariner and yes even Sir Bob at times. Some of our so called supporters would win the Premier League for moaning and it's no good blaming our position in the league, even when the Budgies were bottom last year they were still getting crowds of 24000. Our away support is the best in the league and its time some of those who only go to home matches, or don't go at all, followed their example. COYB.

Peakyboy - Can you blame him,, when we offered a loan deal to him last time we hadn't won a game so it was hardly an attractive proposition for the lad. Also as it was near the beginning of the season he probably wanted to see if he could win his place in the Sunderland team before coming to us, which you cant blame him for either as they are a premier league side. Lets get behind him and David Healy and see what they and the rest of the team can do, and i for one will definately be at portman road and the away games to watch town do the business. Don't always be so pessimistic on this website. COYB

Am i the only person who does not care who the players are or where they come from (aslong as that are in no-way connected to the scum) aslong as the wear the TOWN shirt with pride & give 100% & get 3pts i don't care!!!!!!!!!!! don't get to as many games as i would love to (kids & bills) BUT I LOVE MY TEAM & ALWAYS WILL!!!!!!!!!!!! Get behind the TOWN & Keano & the good times will return. Enjoyed the Burley years, live off the glory Robson years, but good or bad WE ARE IPSWICH THROUGH & THROUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
