Keane: More Players Could Leave on Loan
Keane: More Players Could Leave on Loan
Friday, 5th Feb 2010 14:03

Boss Roy Keane says he has received loan interest in members of his squad since the transfer window ended on Monday. Football League clubs are able to take players on emergency loans from next week.

Keane said: “We’ve had one or two offers after the deadline in terms of for next week, which is something I’m weighing up at the moment.”

The Town manager has previously said that he would be willing to allow the likes of defender Troy Brown and winger Reggie Lambe out to gain experience, while the club appears to have a surfeit of midfielders with experienced players such as Alan Quinn rarely involved of late.

Keane also says that central defender Tommy Smith could be recalled from his loan spell at Brentford before the full 93 days agreed with the Bees last week: "He's enjoying his football there and we're happy for him to stay at Brentford.

“He'll be back after the 93 days but it wouldn't surprise me if it was before that, maybe over the next few weeks. We'll see what develops."

Smith, 19, is the only Town player out on loan subject to a 24-hour recall clause, while Sunderland have a similar arrangement with Jack Colback but not Daryl Murphy or David Healy.

Am sure those players who's deals are up in the Summer will be keen to show what they can do! No point sitting in the Ressies here hoping for a miracle - especially with more players due in soon!

i wouldnt say quinn is 1 of the worst players...lol he may not have let us down before but that doesnt mean he has enough quallity for what is wanted,
Worth a place in the squad but no1 wants to be a bench warmer forever if he cant see himself getting back in he will want a move.

We have plenty of CM better than him and hes not that great wide and with garven and colback being preffered LM recently and edwards and martin also wanting that spot or the RM (or even CM for Martin his preffered pos.) who i would place ahead of Quinn wide,
not to mention civeli back next season and the prospect of yao and peters aswell then im affraid poor old quinner at the very least needs a loan to get some sharpness and try and impress big to either get back in keanes plans or get a decent contract from someone else in the summer

Quinn is one of the players we never should have bought in the first place. He was a deep reserve at the struggling Sheffield Utd at the time and it was just a noncence to expect him to do good for us but that's part of Jim's wrongdoing. Let us get rid of him ASAP!

Quinn- seems to show a lot of effort, running around like a headless chicken but no quality. Endless long-range shots aimed at the upper stands and who could forget Sheffield Utd last season, coming on at the end and needlessly handling the ball to give away an equalising penalty? Not the kind of player we want.

Quin Leadbitter was the most effective central midfield pairing so far this season. Loan our Norris, waste of space.

Loan Norris legoman your a mug!

Wuinn is poor, I would have trotter instead of him anyday. Didnt like the idea when specuilation about quinn first arose and certainly didntl ike him when he played for us. Poor poor player!

loan "our" norris ? theres no need to bring accents to the board pee off back up north.
and quin/leadbitter appeared effective becuase garven was playing kak at the time any1 would have seemed better and quinn does run his legs into the ground just has no real quallity.
colback, garven, and norris since he has been back all play better along side leabitter i still dont like garven in the middle as oposition tend to walk past him like hes not there but he has got better at it

I have read a few comments about leadbitter/norris being to similar and playing deep and not playable next to each other a bit like the lampard/gerrard debate but the other way round....Norris before he came here and played mostly on the right for jim was very much a box to box CM getting forward often and scoring goals so that cant be true

Maybe Leadbitter and Norris are similar so not the best pairing in central midfield, similar situation to the age old England debate about playing Lampard and Gerrard together. Doesn't make either of them bad players, I think we should have a real holding midfielder to play alongside one of them, thus allowing the other forward more often. Quinn is an average Championship player, he's not a bad player! And I'm not being negative, average /championship players are far better than any of us on here! He's always been a solid, useful squad player putting in a decent shift when called apon. Maybe loaning him out (with a recall option) would benefit him and keep him sharp should we need him in case of injury to others.

Quinn is a squad player at best and rather similar to Bruce in that he does not have the true quality the club requires but you can never fault his commitment. If he goes on loan, we should wish him well. I have commented before on the Norris and Leadbitter combination although I have never said they could not play together. I certainly think Norris has it in him to link effectively with the strikers. However, I feel that for most of the season we have been too scared of losing because of the awful start we have had to really allow any of our central midfielders the licence to get forward. Play Walters wide right with Murphy and Healy up top and this would increase our attacking potential and stop worrying about losing so much, go for the win and tell Norris to push on whenever possible. We may lose a few but perhaps we will stop drawing so many and start winning a few more?

Quinn is a really, poor player. His commitment/desire cannot be questioned; his ability certainly ought to be - and in fairness, if i was turning out for ITFC each week, my commitment and desire would be phenomenal - that's a minimum expectation i'm afraid.

I have never understood why fans like him so much. He's technically and quite plainly inadequate.

If we're a progressing team, we've seen his last performance in a Town shirt.

QUINN is really poor player.....never been champs'p level......good work effort but he is weak, slow, can't head or tackle, and an average passer.....he wouldn't show up in the Ridgeons Prem!......i'm serious there are better players than him in that league.
