Keane: No More Moves Close
Keane: No More Moves Close
Friday, 19th Feb 2010 09:58

Boss Roy Keane says he has received one or two enquiries regarding members of his squad but doesn’t expect any more immediate exits. The Town manager also doesn’t expect to make any imminent additions to his squad.

Keane says he has had a few other managers on the phone recently: “One or two calls but we have to cover ourselves at the moment. We’re fine in terms of numbers but with the amount of games coming up we want to be very, very careful.

"We had the Steady deal, we had to weigh that one up, but I’d be surprised if anyone goes out because we have a squad of 19 or 20 available for tomorrow and other than that the rest are young kids and with the amount of games coming up and injuries, we want to cover ourselves.”

The Blues boss has been targeting defensive additions to his squad but says no further deals are currently close to completion: “I wouldn’t expect anything unless something drastic happened over the next few games. We’ve got the four loan players in at the moment, who are all going to play their part, and you can only have five really involved.

“There are one or two positions at the club I’m constantly looking at but we’ve got one or two players already at the club who might get an opportunity in the positions I’m not sure about.”

Town have no new injury worries with young left-back Shane O'Connor fine despite picking up a minor knock towards the end of the 6-1 reserves defeat at Southend on Wednesday.

"There are one or two positions at the club I'm constantly looking at" - perhaps a little less looking and a bit more action might be in order!

Why would he be looking at bringing in even more players? - he's already proved he doesn't know how to get the best out of what he's bought.

£5m for priskin, martin & edwards - all of which should be doing very well at this level but aren't.

Keane's already brought in more players in 9 months than Sir Bobby did in 13 years - says it all.

Avoiding the drop won't change my views either..you've had more than enough time & money..George Burley could do wonders with this squad.

This sounds a tad familiar. Haven't we heard this nonsense at least once a week for the last year or so? Just focus on getting the squad there is (which is more than capable enough) to perform on a regular basis.

How about you Keano leaving the team alone as you have already wasted 8.2 million.
How about doing the honest thing and admit that you aint got a clue what you are doing anymore.

On paper it's one of the best squads in the Championship. The players take some blame for underperforming, but the responsibility for team selection, tactics and motivation are with one man. We are in grave danger of relegation, so that man needs to up his game considerably. Even John Duncan did better than this with players like Harbey & Pennyfather

Nice 1 Ligh.Boy
I think the time is right for George burley to come back & put this club up where they belong in the Premiership.
It may take time but under Cleggs leadership I am certain he could do a good job.

I can't believe some of the "fans" calling for Keanos head. I think the biggest mistake our club made was getting rid of Burley years ago. But we should keep the faith with Keano right now. He hasn't even had a full season yet, we aren't like a QPR who churns through managers. I mean afterall Jimbo got three seasons and he had no prior experience as a manager. Keano has prior experience with Sunderland and as a player he played under Brian Clough, Sir Alex Ferguson and Martin O'Neill. He must have picked up some tips along the way. Just wait till next season, keep the faith. I know this season has been disappointing but building a team takes time. Rarely ever does any new manager make an instant impact, the only one I can think of right now is Roy Hodgson for Fulham. Keano is our manager, time to get behind him. If we lose our manager now we are definatly facing relegation. COYB

Reading that statement by Keane and judging by previous similar statements expect at least two more to leave on loan and three more to come in, probably all Irish goalkeepers.

what did irish goalkeepers ever do for us .... and managers come to think of it

a worrying point is that there are no big clubs looking at our players to take to the prem league, lets get used to it they maybe just not good enough
