Leadbitter Walking Tightrope
Leadbitter Walking Tightrope
Thursday, 25th Feb 2010 12:18

Town midfielder Grant Leadbitter is walking a disciplinary tightrope having picked up his ninth booking of the season at Scunthorpe on Tuesday.

The former Sunderland man will face a two-match ban effective immediately if he is yellow-carded again before the second Sunday in April. Earlier in the season, the 24-year-old missed the game at Crystal Palace having amassed five cautions.

At the start of the season, the FA amended their rules regarding the deadline for suspensions for five bookings. The cut-off date is now the end of December rather than the end of February.

David Norris is currently on four bookings but a fifth on Saturday would not see him face the ban he would have received last season.

Looks like he will be banned then, cant see him going 11 games without a booking ! We will miss him as he has been arguably our best player this season.

How did Norris pick up so many bookings? He's not back from injury that long! Hopefully if the 2 do pick up bans it's not at the same time.

Norris was getting 1 a game - looks like we'll only miss 1 at a time not both together. Think the impending ban to Leadbitter is why Garvan's appearances have stopped of late!

Crikey squiz, what next, mourning people who aren't yet dead?

Great little player but could do with channeling his agression into scoring a few more goals.

Easily the pick of RK's signings this year, but as long as Norris is available, surely we have enough cover not to miss him for one match?

Great work ethic and not short of talent but I would like to see him get into the box a bit more.

Yep easily Keano's best signing but we need to gag him during games. I think more than half his bookings have been for dissent!

Guess its all part of his game but he does seem to get booked rather too much for opening his gob. We will just have to make do when he does get suspended, it will be a big miss as he is a very important player for us but players getting suspended happens to all teams all season. Rather that than him getting injured!
Good to see that the 5 yellows period is now passed and i dont think any other of our players are nearing 10 bookings although someone else may know different?

He'll be banned. Still I would be disapointed if our tackling play maker in midfield was NOT getting booked. Shows his desire and players like that will always get booked. A very good RK signing

But on the positive side, if / when he is banned it will mean keane will be forced to try someone else for taking set pieces which isn't a bad thing.
