Delaney's Red Card Rescinded
Delaney's Red Card Rescinded
Tuesday, 16th Mar 2010 14:11

Damien Delaney has won his appeal against the red card he received for serious foul play in the second half of Saturday’s game against Scunthorpe. The central defender will now be available to play for the Blues at Watford this evening.

The Irish international was dismissed by referee Pat Miller for a trip on Iron striker Jonathan Forte.

Town used video evidence to support their case at the hearing in front of the FA Disciplinary Commission at 1pm today.

Just shows you what a poor decision it was for it to get rescined. Am more confident about the games coming up now.

smith or balkenstein one will go back out on loan i cnt think how old pim is but smith can be reccalled anytime if we need him again because of his age but keane might want him on the bench instead of pim if hes doing better

I am delighted and amazed. Disciplinary Committees normally back the referee even when he is wrong. In this case we don't know what was on the referee's report. It might have suggested that upon reflection, the red card was too harsh.

I remember in the 1950s a Newport Referee, Bob Smith, gave a goal at Tottenham which was shown by press photographs to be the goal keeper's cap which Bob mistook for the ball! Scores of flat caps were sent to him through the mail. The goal stood and everyone had a good laugh.

Great decision! Now is that wally of a ref going to be de-frocked (or whatever they call it), and sent to dig potatoes for punishment? And take that second wally of a lino with him!

Ours is overturned, Scunny can't appeal because the camera man was desperately trying to film some football, 3 points in the bag, justice is served!

Justice has been done. It was a terrible decision. Ref influenced by 5 Scunthorpe players. Scunthorpe are a terrible side - both footballing wise and also their layers attitude. I hope they go down.
