Kuqi: No Swan Dive Against Town
Kuqi: No Swan Dive Against Town
Sunday, 21st Mar 2010 21:05

Former Blue Shefki Kuqi says he won’t celebrate with his trademark dive if he scores against Town for Swansea at the Liberty Stadium next Saturday. The Finnish international, who was with the Blues between 2003 and 2005 and then briefly again on loan in 2008, joined the Swans from German side Koblenz in January.

Kuqi said: “Ipswich are very close to my heart it's a special club for me. I loved every minute of my time there. I had a close relationship with the fans and they appreciated the way I played.

"If I score against them I definitely won't celebrate. I will never celebrate if I score against Ipswich.

"People want to see me do the dive when I score but it won't happen on Saturday. That's my way of showing respect.

"Whenever I go back to Ipswich I feel really good and relaxed. The place feels like home. I got on so well with the people who worked at the club.

"My one regret is that I didn't win promotion there. We came close twice - both times we lost in the play-offs.”

So far Kuqi has netted three times in eight starts and four sub appearances for the Swans.

Tee joutsen,Shefki!
I was kind of expecting to shout that and will do that BEFORE the game.
It translates "Do a swan, Shefki!" Have to think of something more cunning for the game then.

Steady!- if he is a 'legend' what does that make Mills, Wark, Beattie etc.

He is certainly a top bloke, and I hope the dive thing will not be an issue as we will win 'one nil'.

All hail the Flying Finn! If he does score on Saturday, I wouldn't be surprised if Shefki gets a round of applause from those of us travelling down - top bloke.

got a lot of time for dear old shefki , i have never forgiven dirty deon dublin for studding him in the match towards the end of the season, it probably cost us promotion.

How about Shefki to score an own goal then run to the town fans to perform the swan dive! Everone wins! (Except the welsh playing in an English league)

gotta say he's my fave town player to have pulled on the blue and white shirt, his desire and work ethic were second to none and as radio suffolk used to say he would chase bits of paper blowing around the 18 yard box !!! dare I say it I think we should have tried to sign him again !!! he still loves the club and has never made that a secret at any of the other clubs he has been at. great bloke and a real servant to ITFC

I love the bloke, you never quite knew what would happen when he had the ball but he gave 100%. I'm sure that when he played for Palace against us at PR he pulled back from scoring. He will always get a warm reception from Town fans unlike the traitor Lee.

Shefki is a true gentleman and seems to love ITFC as much as all us fans do. Not celbrating a goal against a former club is an increasing thing but with him you think he really means it. Was a real shame that his return a couple of years ago didn't work out

Hope we can show what ITFC fans are all about on Tuesday and against Swansea. Please give a massive welcome to Shefki & Paul Mariner, especially as the latter might one day be our boss (?)

Top bloke! We saw some cracking football during his time with the club. His energy levels were fantastic when he was fully fit. Here's hoping he doesn't score Saturday though - unless he gets 3 and we win 3-4!!
