Balkestein Considering Future
Balkestein Considering Future
Sunday, 28th Mar 2010 19:42

Defender Pim Balkestein says he will consider whether to join Brentford permanently during his loan spell which runs until the end of the season. The Dutchman rejoined the Bees on Thursday with the clubs having agreed a fee if the 22-year-old wants to move to Griffin Park full-time in the summer.

Balkestein said: "We will see what happens. It is better to have a look after a month. Brentford is a big consideration, I like it here.

"I'm playing well, for a long time I didn't play at Ipswich, the best thing is to play first team football.

"I know Brentford, it went well here last time, I know the boys and it was good to come back."

The former Heerenveen man made his second debut for Brentford in their home victory over Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Ed Upson made his league debut for loan club Barnet on Saturday as the other Bees drew 1-1 at home to Burton Albion. The Town youngster, whose contract is up in the summer, came on for the final 11 minutes.

Not much to consider Pim really. If a fee has been agreed RK doesn't want you. You are on the way out I am afraid.

No mention of the fee that has been agreed. I wonder how much of the £100,000 we will recoup.

shame it hasn't worked out for pim, but as is the case with bruce on loan, if they come back they will only play back up to mac and delaney, who have cemented the number 1 pairing at CB and rightly so. Could Pim be transformed into a marauding left back though? is naturally left footed and has a good shot on him, id personally like to see pim stay

Unfortunately Pim has proved to be an average signing. He certainly won't go down as a good JM purchase, yet from memory we didn't pay a lot for him, so like the Colin Healy situation - was worth a punt. Pim is a Division 1 player at best, although he had a couple of decent games for us. Sadly for him, when he was dropped from the team, our defensive record improved ... coincidently, this was at the same time Bruce was dropped.
