Town boss Roy Keane has turned down offers of TV punditry roles at the World Cup to concentrate on getting things right with the Blues. The Town manager revealed earlier in the month that he was weighing up whether to accept the roles.

Keane told the club site: “There were a couple of offers but I've decided not to take them up. I need to concentrate on getting things right at Ipswich.

"This is a very important summer for me. The most important I've had in my time in management - and that's because of the poor season we had last year.

"It's a vital period for me in terms of getting the club in shape. While we've obviously not got the intensity of matches to prepare for, it will be a busy time. There is a lot of hard work to be done and I want to get on with it.”

Keane says that despite not taking the media jobs he will be keeping a close eye on the tournament, looking for possible signings: "Like all managers I will be watching the World Cup and, while you'd expect the players from the likes of Italy, Brazil, Argentina and the other top teams to be out of our reach, you never know what the smaller nations might bring."

jas0999 added 18:50 - May 19 Unbelievable that people still find a reason to moan. This is getting very tiresome now. I couldn't care less if Roy did go to the World cup as a pundit. Have people not heard of mobile phones? Still he has decided to stay put and is putting Ipswich first. He deserves credit not criticism. Again, if some people dislike Roy that much, may I suggest you go and 'support' another club? It's clearly making you very depressed. It's not worth getting upset over, so perhaps support Norwich instead?

Secondly at least he gets to see the players first hand rather than a scouting report. Lets look at last season how many times did we come up short with ideas, the scouts reports must have been rubbish as i could have given them better intelligence. So first hand is better. There will be a lot of players who are in our price range trying to move on so it is an ideal market. But if the price is too high then you walk away, just like buying a car. Now Keane has two years and the first one has gone, if things don't improve then I believe it would be time for him to move on, but lets give the bloke a chance, first year bedding in, second year flying.....? either up or off.
