Town Set to Play Irish Friendly Tuesday, 13th Jul 2010 22:46
TWTD understands that Town are set to add a friendly in the Republic of Ireland to their pre-season programme. The as yet unconfirmed match against unnamed League of Ireland opposition will be played some time next week after the squad returns from Holland.
The Blues had hoped to play three matches as part of a Dutch tour, but in the end were only able to arrange Saturday’s game at PSV, a fixture against 1981 UEFA Cup final opponents AZ Alkmaar amongst those to fall through. The friendly in Ireland has been organised in place of those games.
I cant understand why people are moaning already. the season hasnt even started yet and all these comments about Keano not bringing in new players and not playing good enough teams in pre season......who cares. results in pre season and who you play in pre season games doesnt win the league ahead. Everyone should just back the lads for the new campaign and hope that keano can start this season hitting the ground running. We have very good players they just need to perform.
It's looking unlikely that Marcus is going to give Keano the boot - yet !! So we all have to go through the dross and defeats of a new season (with no new signings) until ME can tear himself away from his hot tub and call Cleggy to sack the witless dimwit we have in charge. That day will come though - thank god.
IpswichElvis: I thought you were on your Hols... Are you getting withdrawl symptoms and logging in from Brighton seafront?
And for those that are posting that a trip to Ireland is a waste as the opposition isn't good enough... remember they are in the middle of their seasons, so match fit and last year I think we lost 2 of the 3 games... NO, I'm not being negative, just pointing out that pre-season is about fitness and playing against a fully fit side is more of a test at this stage than a better quality side with low fitness levels...
SiBo - Just wanted to logon for a while to see if our muppet manager had signed anybody. Yes, I know it was a long shot but I had to know. As for Brighton, I am sure it is nice this time of year but I am glad I am in Ohio. Going to Cedar Point in Sandusky today. It's a huge amusement park, bit like Portman Road under Keano !!!!
Morning GITS (copyright G Smallpiece San Salvador). Rather be in Brighton than Ohio! Ohio. The Rust Belt. Bit like someone from middle America going to Ipswich for a holiday. Grim thought. FORK! POMS! COYB!
My god it's even moer flouncetastic than usual on here today. Very amsuing how those that acuse others of blindly supporting Keane so often blindly criticise everything.
Ipswich Elvis, It would'nt be any point sacking Keane at this minute in time. All players are getting ready for the season and reports so far that pre-season is going well. Keane deserves the first ten games and then we judge him and the team after that. If we start poorly then keane will probbably walk or get sacked. But lets just hope we can start well and push on but we need to sign a new striker ideally before the first game kicks off.Last season is in the past now lets try and be positive!!!

Comedy gold. Can you start posting on the message board. Please say you will?
@joeippy - anybody can look good with 3 or 4 minutes of video footage spread over god knows how many seasons. Not that I am so inclined, but I could put together a video of a another player and add all his spectacular goals and great play and wrap it into 3 minutes of footballing heaven to drool over. Unfortunately, Keane saw that video and went and wasted 1.7m on him !!!!!
yes i know who you are talking about, however this lad is on a free and he looks like the types of players we have been missing, a big strong powerful player and what i have heard has good pace aswell. Scores a lot of headers but from what i have read he has had a fall out with leeds management so they are letting him go. On a free must be worth a punt, plus will have low wages as leeds were in league one.
I met a genie last night who granted me one wish. "I want to live for ever", I said. "Sorry", said the genie, but I am not allowed to grant that type of wish. "Fine", I said, "Then I want to die when Ipswich achieve anything worthwhile with Roy Keane in charge"."You crafty b*****d!" said the genie !!!
its official its west coast united !!! i new they would pick a good irish team but never in all my dreams did i think they would pick the best irish team.be warned they have a tiny ground so order tickets early if you heading over..some great local pubs and good beaches make a good holiday out of it
I wouldnt go booking my West coast tickets just yet generalpublic as your the only one who thinks it will be on there and if it is a scramble for tickets wouldnt be required as last time there was plenty of room in the ground. From what I gather on this side of the water its the FAI who are dragging their heels on this one,the same useless shower who run Irish soccer that prevented Limerick playing a friendly with Barcalona that would have given a very poor club much needed survival funds.
